Chief AI Officer (CAIO) - A senior executive responsible for a business's overall AI strategy and adoption, a role now appearing even at mid-sized companies.
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - The senior leader responsible for a business's technology direction and systems, often the person weighing up AI vendors.
Fractional CTO - A part-time or contracted CTO shared across several smaller businesses that cannot yet justify a full-time hire.
Head of Automation / Automation Lead - The person responsible for identifying and building out automation across a business's processes.
AI Product Manager - The person who defines what an AI feature or tool should actually do, balancing what is useful, buildable and worth paying for.
Prompt Engineer - Someone who specialises in writing and refining prompts to get reliable, high-quality output from AI models.
Machine Learning Engineer - An engineer who builds, trains and deploys machine learning models into real software products.
Data Scientist - A specialist who analyses data to find patterns and build predictive models, often the person behind an AI feature's underlying logic.
Data Analyst - Someone who interprets business data to answer specific questions and support decisions, typically with less model-building than a data scientist.
Data Engineer - An engineer who builds and maintains the pipelines and infrastructure that move and store a business's data.
Automation Engineer - An engineer who designs and builds automated workflows and integrations between business systems.
RPA Developer - A developer who specifically builds Robotic Process Automation "bots" to replicate manual, repetitive computer tasks.
Solutions Architect - Someone who designs how different systems and tools should connect and work together to meet a business's requirements.
Integration Specialist - A technical specialist focused specifically on connecting different software systems so data flows correctly between them.
Conversational AI Designer - Someone who designs how a chatbot's conversation should actually flow, read and feel to a customer.
Chatbot Developer - A developer who builds and configures chatbots, from conversation logic through to system integrations.
AI Consultant - An outside advisor who helps a business identify, evaluate and plan AI adoption, without necessarily building the solution themselves.
Digital Transformation Consultant - A consultant focused on the broader shift of a business's operations and culture onto digital and AI-assisted systems.
Implementation Specialist - Someone responsible for setting up and configuring a new system or tool correctly for a specific client's needs.
Customer Success Manager - A role focused on ensuring existing customers get real, ongoing value from a product, reducing churn.
Revenue Operations (RevOps) Manager - A role that aligns and often automates the systems and data across sales, marketing and customer success.
Marketing Operations (MOps) Manager - A role focused on the tools, data and automation underpinning a marketing team's campaigns.
IT Manager / Systems Administrator - The person responsible for keeping a business's day-to-day technology and systems running and secure.
Business Analyst - Someone who studies a business's current processes and requirements to recommend how a system or automation should be built.
No-code Developer / Citizen Developer - A non-technical staff member who builds functional apps or automations themselves using no-code tools, without a traditional engineering background.
